The Lagos State Government has committed to providing a reliable electricity supply to the Imota Rice Mill in the Ikorodu region and the surrounding communities to improve the mill’s operations.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Mineral Resources, Abiola Olowu, made this announcement during an inspection of ongoing and completed electrification projects in Imota and the adjacent areas, as stated in a release on Wednesday.
Olowu was quoted as saying that given the epileptic power supply to the area, “the state government had conceived and initiated some electrification projects towards proffering solutions to the inadequate supply of electricity to the mill.”
He said the power problem would be resolved “as soon as the upgrading of the existing network from the T-off junction to the transformer and erection of high-tension reinforced concrete poles are completed with the dressing of materials and stringing of 150mm aluminum conductor.”
According to the statement, Olowu added that “the installation of five MVA, 33/11kv power transformer, 630A RMU SF6 VIP ringmaster with earthling is also about to be completed.”
He emphasized that the installation of essential infrastructure, including a 33kv outdoor circuit breaker, isolators, a 33kv outdoor transformer control panel equipped with an inverter and air conditioner, has been successfully finalized.
Additionally, the substation fencing, along with a gate, has been completed to safeguard the rice mill, as stated in the release.
Furthermore, the Special Adviser confirmed that the safety measures in place to protect the rice mill remain undisturbed. The state government is committed to ensuring the uninterrupted and consistent provision of power to the entire region.
