The University of Ilorin has called on its graduates, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, to promptly retrieve their unclaimed certificates to address a growing backlog.
In a memo dated December 18 and seen by The PUNCH on Sunday, the university expressed concern over the large number of uncollected certificates, prompting the issuance of this directive.
According to the memo, signed by the University Registrar, M.A. Alfanla, graduates have until Friday, January 17, 2025, to collect their certificates.
A penalty fee of ₦3,000 will be imposed for each week of delay beyond the stated deadline.
“The University Management, therefore, urges all affected graduates to collect their certificates on or before Friday, 17 January 2025. Failure to do so thereafter will attract a fine of ₦3,000.00 per week,” the statement reads.
The university also emphasized the need for a seamless collection process, advising graduates to come prepared with required documents.
These include evidence of convocation fee payment, the original Statement of Results, a valid Student ID card, and other relevant paperwork.
