President Bola Tinubu has named Jamiu Abiola as his Senior Special Assistant on Linguistics and Foreign Matters, with the appointment taking effect from November 14, 2024.
Abiola, a son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, winner of the annulled 1993 presidential election, transitions into this new role after previously serving as Special Assistant on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice President.
A statement issued on Wednesday by Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, confirmed the appointment.
The statement highlighted that Abiola’s new role aligns with the provisions of the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders, Salaries and Allowances, etc, Act 2008, as amended.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved the appointment of Jamiu Abiola as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Linguistics and Foreign Matters,” the statement read. “The appointment takes effect from 14th November, 2024. This is in line with the provisions of the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc) Act 2008, as amended.”
Tinubu urged Abiola to collaborate closely with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing the need to leverage his experience in advancing his new mandate.
“President Tinubu tasks the appointee to work closely with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new assignment,” Imohiosen added.
