Vice President Kashim Shettima departed Abuja on Wednesday, en route to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, where he will participate in the opening ceremony of the 2024 International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources.
The event, scheduled to run from November 27 to December 2, will take place at the Abidjan Exhibition Centre.
According to a statement released by Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communication, Shettima’s attendance follows an invitation from Côte d’Ivoire’s Vice President, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné.
The statement, titled “VP Shettima Leaves For Abidjan, To Attend SIREXE 2024 Opening Ceremony,” was issued on Wednesday.
SIREXE, organized by the Ivorian government, is a global forum dedicated to exploring “Policies and Strategy for the Sustainable Development of the Extractive and Energy Industries.”
Nkwocha noted that Shettima will leverage the platform to highlight Nigeria’s achievements and experiences in hydrocarbon exploration and production.
The Vice President is expected to return to Abuja later today.
