Ousmane Dembele continued his red-hot form, finding the net once more as Paris Saint-Germain secured a crucial victory over Marseille, moving them ever closer to clinching their 13th Ligue 1 crown.
Fresh off his decisive goal in the Champions League clash against Liverpool, Dembele showcased his composure in Le Classique, slotting home in the 17th minute after a well-placed pass from Fabian Ruiz.
The French winger has now netted seven times in his last seven outings, bringing his overall tally for the season to 30 across all competitions.
Ruiz turned provider again just before halftime, setting up Nuno Mendes, who calmly finished from close range to double PSG’s lead.
Marseille momentarily revived hopes of a comeback early in the second half when Amine Gouiri, a January signing, scored his fourth goal for the club. However, PSG swiftly regained control as a Pol Lirola own goal restored their two-goal cushion.
Unbeaten in Ligue 1 this season, the Parisian giants have amassed 21 wins and five draws, with their home record standing at an impressive 11 victories in 13 matches at Parc des Princes.
With a commanding 19-point lead over second-placed Marseille, PSG could seal the league title as early as April 5 if they claim wins in their next two fixtures against Saint-Etienne and Angers.
The defending champions, who have lifted the Ligue 1 trophy in each of the past three seasons, are also in contention for a treble.
They have secured a spot in the Coupe de France semi-finals and will take on Aston Villa in the Champions League quarter-finals.
