The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended three individuals in connection with a case of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.
In a statement issued in Dutse, the state capital, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Adam, confirmed that the suspects were arrested on February 8, 2025, in Illela town, Sokoto State.
The individuals, identified as Mallam Adamu Aliyu, 30; Mallam Mukhtar Abdulmumin, 37; and Mallam Nafiu Ibrahim, 80, hail from Hadejia, Auyo, and Miga Local Government Areas, respectively.
Police investigations revealed that the trio allegedly conspired to defraud a 19-year-old, Ahmad Abdullahi, of N400,000 before luring him to a riverbank in Hadejia town, where he was strangled and his body thrown into the water when he demanded his money.
“The suspects fled to the Niger Republic after committing the crime but were later tracked down and brought back to Jigawa State,” Adam stated.
He added that the case has been charged to court, stressing the command’s commitment to justice. “We are determined to ensure that those responsible for this gruesome act are held accountable,” he said.
