The Katsina State Police Command has reported significant achievements in its fight against crime in the past year, including the arrest of 916 criminals, the neutralization of 40 bandits, and the rescue of 319 kidnapped victims.
According to The PUNCH, this was disclosed by the State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa, during the command’s end-of-year event held in Katsina on Monday. Musa commended the officers and men of the command for their commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Highlighting the year’s accomplishments, he stated, “Our relentless efforts have led to a considerable reduction in crime rates. We have dismantled criminal networks, recovered stolen properties, and ensured justice for many victims.”
Musa detailed some of the command’s milestones, rescuing 319 kidnapped victims and reuniting them with their families, neutralizing 40 bandits, disrupting their activities, and enhancing community safety, recovering 2,081 rustled animals, bolstering the local economy.
“These remarkable achievements are a testament to the unrelenting dedication, hard work, and bravery of our officers and men, who have worked tirelessly to ensure that our communities remain safe and secure. Our efforts have yielded positive results, and we are proud of the progress we’ve made. This year, we have achieved several notable milestones.
“We have rescued over 319 victims from the clutches of kidnappers and bandits, reuniting them with their families and loved ones.
“We have neutralised 40 bandits, disrupting their operations and making our communities safer.
“We have recovered 2,081 rustled animals, returning them to their rightful owners and boosting the local economy.”
Speaking further, he said, “We have arrested 199 suspected armed robbers, taking them off the streets and making our communities more secure.
“We have also charged 23 major drug dealers to court, disrupting the supply of illicit substances and promoting a safer, healthier society.
“We’ve successfully arrested and prosecuted 32 suspected vandals, ensuring that those who seek to destroy our community’s property are brought to justice.
“Our diligent work has also led to the arrest of 89 suspected motorvehicle thieves and the recovery of over 27 motorvehicles and motorcyles, making our roads safer for everyone.
“Furthermore, we’ve apprehended 573 suspects for various offences, including criminal force, intimidation, and breach of trust, demonstrating our commitment to tackling all forms of crime.”
The commissioner also emphasized the command’s efforts in infrastructure improvement, noting upgrades to police clinics, divisional headquarters, and other facilities. “These enhancements have significantly boosted our operational capacity, allowing us to respond more efficiently to emergencies,” he added.
Musa also praised the success of community policing initiatives, which have strengthened the relationship between the police and the public. “The cooperation from our host communities has been vital to our success,” he said.
Governor Dikko Radda, represented by Nasir Mu’azu, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, acknowledged the state’s ongoing security challenges. He commended the police for their efforts and stressed the importance of collaboration among security agencies.
The commissioner expressed gratitude to sister security agencies for their cooperation throughout the year. “The synergy among security agencies has been crucial in achieving these results,” he concluded.
