An 18-year-old Italian volleyball player of Nigerian descent, Julia Ituma has been reported dead.
According to the CNN, she died after falling from a hotel window, only hours after her club was knocked out of the Champions League semi-finals.
She was discovered dead at her hotel in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday, April 13.
The “next big thing” and emerging volleyball player had been representing her team Igor Gorgonzola Novara in their second-leg knockout match against Turkish side Eczacibasi Dynavit Istanbul, where she had earned two points despite their defeat.
Also, the Italian consulate in Turkey announced that they were aiding Ituma’s family and were working closely with Turkish officials.
According to Police Reports, she was discovered motionless on the ground outside the Valley Hotel at roughly 5.30 a.m. on Thursday and was pronounced dead shortly after paramedics and emergency personnel arrived.
