Fully solar-powered estate launched in Lagos
A real estate firm, Nedcomoaks Limited, has opened a first ever solar powered estate, Citadel Views in Ajah, Lagos,
The Managing Director of Nedcomoaks Limited, Kennedy Okonkwo, who made this disclosure said the firm decided to tap into nature to address some of Nigerian problems, including climate change, energy and inflation crises, among others.
The initiative, he said was in a bid to eradicate air pollution, ensure fuel efficiency and uninterrupted power supply.
Meanwhile, Subscribers will on Monday be handed their fully solar powered homes in the first phase of 205 units, of the total 306 units.
He said, “The beauty of what we are doing is that climate change is real, carbon in our atmosphere is real and we cannot use our hands to destroy the earth that God has given to us. The same God has also given us sunlight.
“The whole essence of Citadel is the solar revolution, it is to ensure that we harness the power of the sun. We decided to tap into the power of the sun because there was a COVID-19, after that the Ukraine-Russian war, energy crisis, fuel price crisis, among others.
“Yet, the income of the average Nigerian has not increased, and inflation is affecting everything. Most estates have the same complain so we said to ourselves to look inwards and find ways to solve those problems. And with all these rising costs and inflation, we thought it wise to execute this project.
“People say the solar system does not last, that it packs up after one month, but the company we have partnered with has a five year warranty. Inverter systems are scalable and you get to enjoy more power supply.”
Citadel Views Estate was said to be an architectural masterpice with 24 hours uninterrupted power supply, treated water, fitness centre, round-the-clock security, after-sale maintenance, facility management, children play area, biogas waste management system, swimming pool, football pitch, smart locks and spacious en-suite bedrooms.
