The National Youth Service Corps has announced that Okun Christopher, the Akwa Ibom State coordinator, and his driver, Daniel Effiong Asibong, have been reported missing.
The pair disappeared while on an official assignment between Delta and Akwa Ibom States on Monday, July 29, 2024.
According to The PUNCH, the news was confirmed in Abuja on Wednesday by Eddy Megwa, the Director of the Press and Public Relations Department.
Megwa stated that Christopher and Asibong were abducted during their journey, and despite extensive efforts, their location remains unknown.
The NYSC is in communication with the families of the missing individuals to collect any possible information regarding their whereabouts.
Megwa appealed to the public for assistance and urged anyone with relevant information to contact the scheme.
The vehicle they were travelling in was a white official Hilux with the registration number “27D31FG.”
Megwa encouraged anyone with information to reach out to any of the 37 NYSC state secretariats, area offices, the National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, or the nearest police station or security agency for immediate action.
Okun Christopher took on the role of the 19th state coordinator of the NYSC in Akwa Ibom in April 2024.
