Yoruba Nollywood actor Yusuf Olorungbede has passed away, according to announcements made by his colleagues in the Yoruba film industry.
His death was confirmed by actress Foluke Daramola, who shared the news on her verified Instagram account. “We lost Yusuf Olorungbede… We submit to God’s Will. Thank you, everyone!” Daramola wrote, expressing her sorrow over the loss.
Olorungbede, who had been battling an illness and was placed on life support shortly before his death, was remembered fondly by his peers.
Actor Oladimeji Peter paid tribute to Olorungbede on Facebook, recounting the late actor’s kindness and support in the industry.
“It is sad to hear you are gone,” Peter wrote. “As an actor, you gave me courage. You were the first director to invite me to a movie location and pay me. Not just that alone; my feeding and personal accommodation were settled without stress.
“How will I write up my stories in this industry and slide your name, EGBON? It’s not possible. Through you, I met a lot and learned so much. Good night, Boss Man. Yusuf Olorungbede.”
