Omotayo Taiwo Oyebanjo, the estranged wife of popular On-Air Personality, Dotun, has disclosed the reasons behind her decision to keep their children away from the media personality.
The child custody dispute has garnered significant attention, with singer Dbanj, who is Dotun’s brother-in-law and a sibling to Omotayo, embroiled in the case.
Omotayo and Dotun entered into marriage in 2013, but their union faced turmoil in 2022. Omotayo filed for divorce, citing allegations of forced abortion as the cause.
The High Court in Abuja granted divided custody of their children, a decision that Omotayo did not oppose, with the provision that this arrangement would remain in place until the final resolution of the case.
However, Dotun claims that he has been denied access to their children and further alleges that Dbanj plays a role in the discord surrounding the case.
In a lengthy statement responding to Dotun’s accusations, Omotayo offered a glimpse into the reasons for her actions.
She stated that the child custody dispute was initiated to protect their children from the abuse she claims she endured during her marriage to the OAP.
Omotayo addressed the issue of custody, asserting that Dotun is fully aware of the whereabouts of their children, and she stressed that Dbanj had no involvement in the matter.
“For 8 years, I tolerated your sexual abuse, emotional abuse, psychological abuse. How did you expect me to raise the girls in that type of environment?” Omotayo expressed in her statement.
She continued, “This is not Dapo’s battle. Leave him out. All he did was help and cover your shame as you couldn’t keep up with your responsibilities. All Dapo ever did was help us.”
Omotayo went on to clarify her career choices and countered claims that her mother had influenced her to quit her job, stating, “Dotun, you know where your children are. Stop misleading the public. They are not with my brother or family. So stop misleading everyone. It is dubious that you’re not interested in seeing your daughter but obsessed about Dapo. Every decision I have made was to protect the girls from your abuse.”
