The lawyer for Sean “Diddy” Combs, Marc Agnifilio, has provided a perplexing rationale for the enormous collection of baby oil and lubricants found by federal agents during raids on his homes in Los Angeles and Miami.
American rapper, Sean “Diddy” Combs finds himself in a precarious situation as he faces serious legal troubles, including accusations of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Currently held at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center, Diddy’s situation intensified following a raid on his homes in Los Angeles and Miami earlier in 2024, during which federal agents uncovered a staggering 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricants.
His attorney, Marc Agnifilio, offered an eyebrow-raising defense for the unusual stash, asserting that Diddy simply prefers to buy toiletries in bulk, much like many Americans do.
“I don’t think it was 1,000. I think it was a lot. I mean, there is a Costco right down the street. I think Americans buy in bulk, as we know,” Agnifilo explained to the New York Post. He also stressed the notion of consensual adult behavior, stating, “And you know these are consensual adults doing what consensual adults do. We can’t get so puritanical in this country to think that somehow sex is a bad thing because if it was, there would be no more people.”
As Diddy awaits trial, he is facing mounting sexual assault allegations. One significant case comes from Thalia Graves, who has filed a lawsuit against him in a New York federal court.
Graves accuses Diddy and his bodyguard, Joseph Sherman, of drugging and assaulting her in 2001, detailing a harrowing experience where she was offered a glass of wine and subsequently lost consciousness.
She alleged that she awoke naked in a Manhattan studio with her hands tied behind her back, where Diddy then allegedly raped her, even slamming her head into a pool table when she attempted to resist.
“The combination of physical and emotional pain has created a cycle of suffering from which it is so hard to break free,” Graves expressed in her lawsuit. She reflected on the profound internal pain stemming from the assault, saying, “I want to continue on this journey towards recovery and healing. I’m glad that he is locked up, but that’s a temporary feeling of relief.” During a press conference with her attorney, Gloria Allred, Graves further revealed the lasting effects of the incident, including PTSD, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and sexual discomfort. She described the scars left by the assault as something that “may never fully heal,” emphasizing that the “hardest parts” are the “shame and the guilt,” which have hindered her “ability to function properly.”
Despite the serious nature of the charges, a source close to Diddy confirmed that he is not receiving any special treatment while incarcerated.
“He is being treated like any other detainee awaiting trial,” the source told People Magazine.
Notably, Diddy was placed on suicide watch as a precaution upon his admission to the facility, a common measure for public figures in similar situations.
The source added, “He is very concerned about his kids and their well-being.” Diddy has three minor children, two of whom are now without a living parent due to his incarceration.
As he navigates his legal battles, Diddy also expressed his discontent regarding a memoir allegedly written by his late partner, Kim Porter.
The book, compiled by Chris Todd, makes several unsettling claims about Porter’s life and circumstances surrounding her death in November 2018 from lobar pneumonia. Diddy’s legal team has issued a statement condemning the memoir as “offensive” and “shameless.”
Attorney Erica Wolf stated, “The Kim Porter ‘memoir’ is fake. It is also offensive, a shameless attempt to profit from tragedy. Chris Todd has no respect for Ms. Porter or her family, who deserve better.” She asserted that, unlike the “fabrications” in the memoir, it is an established fact that Porter died of natural causes, urging that she “may she rest in peace.”
