South Korea commenced their qualifying campaign by dominating Singapore with a 5-0 victory, led by captain Son, who scored a remarkable goal from outside the penalty area.
Currently leading Group C alongside China, who secured a 2-1 victory in Thailand with a goal in the 74th minute, South Korea, under Jurgen Klinsmann’s leadership, is considered the favorites for the encounter in Shenzhen.
However, Son cautioned his team about anticipating physicality from other Asian teams, suggesting it might be part of their strategy to unsettle South Korea.
“We just have to make sure we don’t get dragged into that kind of thing and stick to our own game plan,” Yonhap quoted him as saying following the thumping of Singapore in Seoul.
