American singer and songwriter, Taylor Swift, has made a remarkable impact by donating $5 million to assist those affected by Hurricanes Milton and Helene.
On Wednesday, Feeding America’s CEO, Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, expressed deep gratitude in a statement shared on the organization’s Instagram.
“We are incredibly thankful for Taylor Swift’s generous contribution,” she said. “This significant support will empower communities to rebuild and recover, ensuring that essential food, clean water, and vital supplies reach those devastated by these tragic storms. Together, we can truly make a difference for families facing these overwhelming challenges.”
Babineaux-Fontenot further acknowledged Swift’s commitment, thanking her for “joining us in our mission to combat hunger and for extending a helping hand to those in urgent need.”
This donation comes just as Hurricane Milton approaches Florida’s Gulf Coast, projected to make landfall Wednesday evening as a storm that could potentially be one of the most catastrophic in the region’s history.
Only two weeks earlier, Hurricane Helene had already wreaked havoc in Florida as a powerful Category 4 hurricane, carving a path of destruction across six states and resulting in catastrophic flooding that claimed the lives of over 230 individuals.
Helene is now recognized as the second-deadliest hurricane to strike the U.S. mainland in the last 50 years, trailing only Hurricane Katrina, which devastated the area nearly two decades ago.
In a show of solidarity, Swift joins other prominent figures like country music icon Dolly Parton in the relief effort.
Parton announced her own initiatives last Friday, revealing that her enterprises, including Dollywood Parks & Resorts, The Dollywood Foundation, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, and Pirates Voyage, are collaborating with Walmart to deliver flood relief across the Appalachian region.
In addition, she has committed $1 million of her personal funds to the Mountain Ways Foundation, a registered charity focused on providing immediate aid to victims of the Helene flooding.
Her various companies will also contribute, matching her personal donation with an additional $1 million to assist those in dire need.
