American rapper, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, will be kept in solitary confinement at the Special Housing Unit in the Metropolitan Detention Center, Brooklyn, until his next court appearance scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, according to a law enforcement source.
The SHU is a specialized section of the detention center, reserved for inmates who need additional security or protection and are kept separate from the general prison population.
The MDC has a history of holding high-profile individuals, including disgraced singer R. Kelly, former cryptocurrency mogul Sam Bankman-Fried, and socialite Ghislaine Maxwell, who faced charges ranging from fraud to trafficking.
Combs is set to appeal his detention without bail before US District Court Judge Andrew Carter on Wednesday.
If the court rejects the appeal, Combs will be sent back to the detention center.
In a prior hearing, Combs was denied bail while facing serious federal charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. He entered a plea of not guilty to these accusations.
After the hearing, Combs’ legal team confirmed they would be appealing the judge’s decision to hold him without bail.
