A former Metropolitan Police officer in the United Kingdom, David Carrick, 49, from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, has been charged with multiple sexual offences against two women, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
The charges include five counts of indecent assault, two counts of rape, and one count of sexual assault.
Additionally, Carrick faces a charge of coercive and controlling behaviour brought by Hertfordshire Constabulary.
The allegations stem from an extensive investigation carried out over several months by Hertfordshire Constabulary’s major crime unit.
Leading the inquiry, Detective Chief Inspector Iain Moor confirmed the complexities involved in the case, “The charges come in the wake of an extensive and complex investigation conducted over a period of several months.”
Carrick, who previously served in the Metropolitan Police’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 17 October.
His former role within such a high-security unit of the police underscores the gravity of the case, as he was responsible for safeguarding high-profile locations and individuals, adding further attention to the upcoming proceedings.
