The Nigerian Television Authority has been tipped by tweeps to tackle Channels TV for the TV of the year award.
It would be recalled that NTA was the only authorized TV station to broadcast the first public address of the President on Monday, June 12, to mark the celebration of Democracy Day.
The national news reporting platform has also taken the lead in reporting breaking news from the presidency, including the news of the inauguration of the National Economic Council on Thursday, June 15.
Tweeps have begun reacting to this seeming development with some speaking in favor of the alleged preference, while others are against it.
Here are some of the reactions:
@Obajemujnr_ wrote, “Finally, channels can stop winning best TV of the year for the 200th time; the NTA is here to take their rightful position.”
In a personal opinion, @dark_cheezy wrote, “They should change their coffee color logo first for a start, buy good camera, change that their intro to 9:00pm network news that have seen two generations. Channels is still ahead in all that.”
@Joelbanky linked the seeming liveliness of the news platform to the vibrance of the new regime, he wrote, “NTA has really been proactive since @officialABAT came on board. That only shows poor leadership on the part previous governments. When you see a serious leader all agencies and departments of Government tends to be more efficient and active. Kudos to Asiwajuβπ€”
@Abidex04 praised them tweeting, “They are very much Authoritatively Asserting their Authority on the Nigeria media space as the name implies. NTA (Nigerian Television Authority)”
On a lighter note, @Shinene10 wrote, “More thumbs up for u NTA breaking new back to back u guys should keep going we si glad to see u back.”
@Oladapomikky1 also tweeted jocularly writing, “NTA dei tweet BREAKING News pass Fabrizio Romano these days oooo.
“What is happening?”
