Four individuals suspected to be members of the Ambazonian rebel group have been apprehended by troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke.
The News Agency of Nigeria identifies Ambazonia as a separatist group active in neighboring Cameroon.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Capt. Olubodunde Oni, confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were taken into custody at a hotel in Takum town.
Oni disclosed that the arrests were made following credible intelligence that led to the tracking and apprehension of the suspects.
“During initial interrogation, the suspects confessed to being part of the rebel group involved in arms proliferation in exchange for cocoa with their Nigerian collaborators,” Oni revealed.
