Torino deepened AC Milan’s woes with a 2-1 victory in Serie A, marking their fourth consecutive home win over Rossoneri, something they hadn’t achieved since 1977.
Still recovering from their midweek UEFA Champions League exit, Milan’s night took a disastrous turn just five minutes in when Mike Maignan’s clearance ricocheted off Malick Thiaw and rolled into the net, gifting Torino an early lead.
Torino’s goalkeeper, Vanja Milinković-Savić, nearly suffered a similar fate when his clearance bounced straight off João Félix, but he was spared as the ball trickled harmlessly back to him.
The Serbian shot-stopper then demonstrated his skill by denying Santiago Giménez after Milan sliced through the home side’s defense.
The visitors kept pressing, with Giménez narrowly heading wide from a pinpoint Christian Pulisic cross.
Their persistence seemed to pay off when Rafael Leão outjumped Marcus Pedersen to meet an Álex Jiménez cross, only for Torino’s right-back to handle the ball in the process.
However, Milan’s frustrations mounted when Pulisic stepped up for the resulting penalty, only for Milinković-Savić to produce a brilliant save with a firm hand.
The first half ended with Milan goalkeeper Maignan making a crucial stop against Nikola Vlašić, while Strahinja Pavlović blocked another effort to keep the deficit at one.
In the 55th minute, Sérgio Conceição looked to shake things up by introducing Youssouf Fofana and later Tammy Abraham. The substitutes immediately made an impact, with Fofana testing Milinković-Savić, followed by João Félix’s curling shot forcing another fine save.
The Torino keeper then denied Tijjani Reijnders with an outstretched boot, frustrating the Dutchman.
Milan continued to knock on the door, with Giménez drilling a shot just past the post and Félix striking the woodwork with a venomous attempt.
Meanwhile, Gvidas Gineitis nearly extended Torino’s advantage before Milan finally broke through in the 75th minute. A botched clearance from Sebastian Walukiewicz saw the ball land at Reijnders’ feet, and he finished emphatically to restore parity.
Torino, however, responded almost instantly. Just three minutes later, Antonio Sanabria’s quick-thinking free-kick released Gineitis, who fired a precise shot past Maignan to reclaim the lead.
Sanabria later squandered a chance to add a third, but Torino held their ground to claim just their second victory in 10 outings.
The result also ended Milan’s four-match unbeaten Serie A run, leaving them six points adrift of fourth-placed Lazio, who have played one extra game.
