President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday led the Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House, Abuja.
This marks the fourth FEC gathering in 2025 and the 25th since the administration’s first session on August 28, 2023.
Ahead of the meeting, a minute of silence was observed in memory of two former ministers—Chief Edwin Clark, who passed away on February 17 at age 97, and Mrs. Adenike Oyagbola, Nigeria’s first female minister, who died on February 28 at 93.
The tribute was led by Dr. Emanso Okop, Permanent Secretary of the Cabinet Affairs Office, on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Clark had served as Federal Commissioner for Information in 1975 under General Murtala Mohammed’s government, while Oyagbola was Minister of National Planning from 1979 to 1983.
Earlier in the week, the council approved several key projects, including the licensing of 11 new private universities, a ₦2.5 billion satellite surveillance system to combat illegal mining, and ₦734 billion for the dualization of the Oyo-Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State.
