President Bola Tinubu is set to leave Abuja on Thursday for a diplomatic mission to Beijing, China, where he will engage with key Chinese businesses and leaders.
According to an announcement made by the Presidency on Tuesday, President Tinubu’s itinerary includes meetings with executives from Huawei Technologies and the China Railway and Construction Corporation.
These discussions aim to push forward major infrastructure projects, such as the completion of the Ibadan to Abuja segment of the Lagos to Kano high-speed rail line.
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, revealed that President Tinubu will make a brief stop in the United Arab Emirates before continuing to China.
“President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja for Beijing, China, on Thursday, 29th August, for an official visit,” Ngelale stated in a press release issued on Thursday. “The President will have a brief layover in the United Arab Emirates.”
While in China, President Tinubu is scheduled to meet with President Xi Jinping and participate in discussions with Chinese business leaders during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
He will be joined by senior government officials, highlighting the importance of the visit for Nigeria’s strategic interests in fostering economic partnerships and development projects.
