Three persons were declared dead on Tuesday when suspected fleeing terrorists assaulted Jajar Kanwa hamlet in Katsina State’s Jibia Local Government Area.
According to The PUNCH, the terrorists were also accused of injuring two other residents, rustling domestic animals, and stealing money, cellphones, and food.
Residents said the hoodlums arrived in the village around 2 a.m. on motorcycles, armed with weapons such as AK-47 rifles.
A pregnant woman was reportedly among the six victims abducted by the group.
The terrorists reportedly instructed the locals to donate N20,000 each within seven days, after which they would return to collect the funds or suffer repercussions.
The incident has been confirmed by the spokesman for the state police command,SP Gambo Isah.
He said, “Yes, two people were killed and three were injured. Due to the ongoing operations in Sokoto and Zamfara, a large number of terrorists/bandits are trooping into Katsina through Zamfara.
“It was while they were coming in that they attacked some villagers at Kanwar Jaja, Jibia LGA. But no kidnapping took place.”
