Three individuals sustained injuries of varying severity following a late-night collision involving a trailer, a Toyota Camry, and a Lexus car along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on Tuesday.
The Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. William Manga, confirmed the incident during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Badagry.
Providing details, Manga revealed that the crash occurred around 11:36 pm near the Agbo-Malu area of Age-mowo on the expressway.
“Our personnel were alerted about the accident at about 11.42 pm and got to the scene at 11:52 pm, 10 minutes after they were alerted. The accident involved three vehicles,” he explained.
According to the unit commander, the vehicles involved included a Renault trailer with the number plate BK 672 RB, traveling from Badagry; a Toyota car with the number plate JJJ 574 JP; and a Lexus car that had no registration number.
“Five persons were involved in the accident but three of them sustained varying degrees of injury,” Manga noted.
The injured victims were promptly transported to the Lagos State Mobile Clinic for medical attention.
Manga attributed the accident to a loss of control and driver inattention on the expressway. He also confirmed that all three vehicles had been cleared from the road to ensure the free flow of traffic.
Appealing to road users, the FRSC commander urged passengers to caution drivers against speeding and advised motorists to exercise caution while navigating the one-lane expressway.
