The Ogun State Police Command has arraigned the suspended traditional ruler of Orile Ifo, Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi, for allegedly assaulting a 73-year-old chief, Abraham Areola.
Ogunjobi appeared in court on Tuesday, facing three charges related to conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the development, stating that the incident, which went viral on social media, prompted the police to take legal action.
“The Kabiyesi, Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, who assaulted an elderly man in Ifo, Ogun State, has been charged to court today, February 4, 2025, on a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace,” Adejobi said.
The court granted Ogunjobi bail, and the case was adjourned until March 6, 2025.
Adejobi assured that the police remain committed to ensuring justice is served. “The police will continue to uphold the rule of law and the core values of this noble profession,” he added.
