Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, found the net twice as Galatasaray played out an action-packed 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa in the Turkish Süper Lig on Sunday.
Despite Osimhen’s impressive display, taking his league tally to 16 goals this season, Galatasaray’s title hopes took a hit as they dropped valuable points.
Osimhen Faces Criticism Over Europa League Performance
“Osimhen deserves criticism, not praise, for his part in Galatasaray Europa League embarrassment.”
Osimhen’s Impact
Starting the match, the Nigerian forward was a constant menace to Kasimpasa’s defense with his tireless movement and pressing.
He broke the deadlock in the 11th minute, calmly converting a penalty after Galatasaray were awarded a spot-kick.
Galatasaray went into halftime with a 1-0 lead, but Kasimpasa emerged stronger after the break, drawing level in the 52nd minute through Mortadha Ben Ouanes.
The hosts then completed the comeback in the 61st minute when Josip Brekalo fired them ahead for the first time in the game.
A Thrilling Finish
Galatasaray quickly hit back as Davinson Sánchez made it 2-2 in the 69th minute. Osimhen then restored their lead just two minutes later with his second goal of the night, putting Galatasaray 3-2 up.
However, just when it seemed like they had secured victory, Haris Hajradinovic stepped up to convert a late penalty, rescuing a point for Kasimpasa in a dramatic finish.
