The Super Eagles of Nigeria have slipped one spot in the latest FIFA world rankings.
They are now positioned as the 39th best team globally according to the July rankings published by FIFA on Thursday.
Previously, in the June rankings, Nigeria was also ranked 38th in the world.
Despite the drop, the Super Eagles remain the 5th best team in Africa.
Within the continent, Morocco retains its status as the top team, ranked 14th globally, following their historic achievement of reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Trailing Morocco are the Teranga Lions of Senegal, ranked 19th worldwide.
Mo Salah’s Egypt holds the 36th position, and Sebastien Haller’s Ivory Coast is 38th, placing them third and fourth in Africa, respectively.
Globally, Argentina holds the top position, followed by France, Spain, England, Brazil, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Colombia, and Italy, which rounds out the top 10.
The teams ranking from 11th to 20th include Uruguay, Croatia, Germany, Morocco, Switzerland, USA, Mexico, Japan, Senegal, and Iran.
