Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has introduced a new transportation programme as part of his efforts to ease commuters’ suffering as a result of the fuel subsidy removal.
The project, which was unveiled on Wednesday at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall premises in Yenagoa, was described by the governor as his administration’s effort to enhance the transport industry.
“This is another historic day as we launch this fleet of transport vehicles to relieve the suffering of our people.
“Now, we have taxis that will run within the city of Yenagoa and environs to the Niger Delta University at Amassoma, to the airport and the Federal University, Otuoke and other towns,” he said.
During the vehicle key handover ceremony to the Bayelsa State Transport Company , Chief Timi Fanama, the General Manager, Governor Diri emphasised the importance of the management utilising the vehicles effectively to improve the transportation system.
