Parma fought back to earn a hard-fought draw against Torino, with Mateo Pellegrino’s brace ensuring Cristian Chivu’s side salvaged a point after goals from Eljif Elmas and Che Adams had put the visitors ahead.
After an impressive victory over Bologna in Chivu’s debut match, the Ducali suffered a setback against Udinese and continued to battle an ongoing injury crisis.
Key players such as Valentin Mihaila, Milan Djuric, Gabriel Charpentier, Adrian Benedyczak, Mateusz Kowalski, Yordan Osorio, and Alessandro Circati remained sidelined.
Meanwhile, Torino arrived in good form after back-to-back wins but were also without Ivan Ilic, Alieu Njie, Perr Schurrs, and Duvan Zapata.
The match saw a delayed kick-off as Parma supporters repeatedly threw streamers into Vanja Milinkovic-Savic’s penalty area, causing a brief disruption.
Parma had early opportunities, with Cristiano Biraghi’s deflected free-kick going just wide and Emanuele Valeri narrowly missing the target from the edge of the box following a corner.
However, it was Torino who struck first when Cesare Casadei launched a counter-attack from deep in his own half, feeding Elmas on the left.
The former Napoli man cut inside Enrico Delprato and curled a stunning right-footed shot around Zion Suzuki, the ball clipping the inside of the far post before nestling into the net—his third goal in just four matches for the Granata.
The hosts struggled to respond for most of the first half, but just before the break, they came agonizingly close to scoring in a chaotic sequence of events.
Milinkovic-Savic initially fumbled a header from Alessio Vogliacco off a corner, then blocked Ange-Yoan Bonny’s attempt with his body. Adams was on hand to clear Enrico Delprato’s effort off the line before Lautaro Valenti’s header crashed off the crossbar.
After the restart, Adams nearly extended Torino’s lead with a curling effort that skimmed past the far post.
However, Parma finally broke through on the hour mark. Valeri surged down the left and pulled the ball back for Pellegrino, who controlled it before rifling a powerful low shot past Milinkovic-Savic from 12 yards out.
Torino quickly responded, regaining the lead when a free kick was knocked down by Valentin Lazaro. Nikola Vlasic attempted to play a through ball, but a deflection off Guillermo Maripan redirected it into the path of Adams, who took full advantage.
Parma refused to back down, and Pellegrino once again came to their rescue. The young forward outmuscled Adams at a corner, guiding a precise glancing header under the crossbar to level the score once more.
With momentum on their side, the hosts pushed for a late winner. Dennis Man had a golden chance in the dying moments but drilled his shot just wide of the near post, leaving the match to end in a dramatic stalemate.
