Inter Milan delivered a dominant 4-0 victory over US Lecce as Simone Inzaghi set a record by becoming the fastest manager to secure 200 Serie A wins, reaching the milestone in just 332 games.
With Inter pushing for the league title and Lecce fighting to avoid relegation, the visitors wasted no time asserting their dominance.
In the sixth minute, Marcus Thuram pounced on Frédéric Guilbert’s weak pass and cleverly set up Davide Frattesi for an easy tap-in to break the deadlock.
Lecce initially showed resilience in response, with Federico Baschirotto heading narrowly wide from a corner.
Nikola Krstović also posed a threat, forcing Stefan de Vrij into a desperate sliding tackle that earned him a yellow card.
However, Inter quickly regained control and came close to doubling their lead on multiple occasions.
Thuram missed a golden chance after an unlucky deflection off Santiago Pierotti sent the ball his way, while efforts from Carlos Augusto and Frattesi found the back of the net but were ruled out for offside.
Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu almost punished those misses, but his low strike rolled just wide of the post.
The hosts’ defensive lapses were costly again in the 39th minute when Lautaro Martínez danced past defenders and unleashed a powerful shot that flew past Wladimiro Falcone, giving Inter a two-goal cushion heading into halftime.
Lecce came out fighting in the second half, creating chances through Krstović and Þórir Jóhann Helgason, but they couldn’t find the target.
Yann Sommer then came to Inter’s rescue, pulling off crucial saves to deny Krstović twice in quick succession.
Inter extended their lead with a superb individual effort from Denzel Dumfries, who escaped Baschirotto’s marking and curled his shot beyond Falcone’s reach.
Moments later, the Lecce goalkeeper fouled Frattesi in the box, allowing Mehdi Taremi to convert the resulting penalty for his debut Serie A goal.
Sommer capped off a solid performance with a stunning save to stop Ylber Ramadani’s long-range effort, ensuring a clean sheet for Inter.
The result sees Inter close the gap to three points behind leaders SSC Napoli, with a game in hand to potentially cut the deficit further.
Meanwhile, Lecce’s back-to-back losses leave them precariously close to the relegation zone, sitting just one point above the drop.
