A 52-year-old-man, Azeez Shorunke, was arraigned before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on Friday for alleged burglary and theft of goods worth N880,000.
Shorunke, a security guard, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
The Prosecutor, ASP Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 6 at about 1:30 a.m. in the Akin-Olugbade area in Abeokuta.
Shonibare said that the defendant conspired with others now at large to burgle a shop and stole goods worth N880, 000 belonging to one Mrs Folashade Oniyide
He said the defendant, was in charge of securing the shop and other shops around.
Shonibare added that Shorunke broke into the shop and stole wood neck Polo shirts valued at N250,000, seven pair of shoes valued at N480, 000 and assorted drinks valued at N150,000, all valued at N880, 000.
Shonibare said that the offences contravened Sections, 516, 414, and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olajumoke Somefun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Somefun ordered that the sureties must be licensed bondsmen recognised by the Ogun State Judiciary.
She, however, adjourned the case until May 19 for a hearing. (NAN)
