The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to clearing the backlog of pensions by the end of 2023.
According to The PUNCH, this was stated by the state’s commissioner for Establishments and Training, Mr. Afolabi Ayantayo, during a media chat with journalists.
He emphasized the state government’s commitment to improving the civil service as part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ agenda.
Speaking from his office in Alausa, Ikeja, Ayantayo highlighted the state’s track record of consistent pension payments, making it one of the best pension administration-compliant states in Nigeria.
“Mr. Governor has shown greater commitment and determination to clear the backlog of pensions and it is anticipated that this would be cleared by the end of 2023 and those retiring from 2024 will collect their entitlement without waiting for a day,” Ayatanyo said.
