The Citizens’ Town Hall engagement on the 2024 budget and appropriation process has started in Abuja.
The event put together by the House Committee on Appropriation and the Programmes Coordinating Unit, Office of the Speaker of Representatives, attracted many personalities including the Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, Kabir Abubakar, his deputy, Iduma Enwo, and immediate past National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Iyiola Omisore, among others.
In his welcome address, Kabir stated that the purpose of the gathering was to enhance citizens’ involvement in the appropriation process.
“This Town Hall is important in promoting the integrity of the budgeting process,” he said.
It would be recalled that the timetable released by the House, the Citizens’ Budget town hall on the budget and appropriation process harnesses Publix’s input and opinion.
The programme was jointly organised by House Committee on Appropriations and Programmes Coordinating Unit in the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas.
The House is also expected to suspend plenary activities for two weeks to pave way for budget defence by all heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies before relevant Standing Committees as from Tuesday, 5th December 2023.
