The Redeemed Christian Church of God is set to commence its annual August convention, the 72nd edition, with the theme ‘Heaven’.
This significant event will take place from Monday, August 5, to Sunday, August 11, 2024, at The Redemption City, Mowe, Ogun State, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The convention is expected to draw thousands of worshippers who will gather physically at the Redemption City.
The event’s highlights include the ordination of new pastors, various teachings, and the much-anticipated Friday Holy Ghost Night.
Accommodations within and around The Redemption City, including guest houses and hostels, have been fully booked well in advance by eager attendees.
According to The PUNCH, a visit to the camp on Sunday revealed an influx of participants, with vehicular traffic into the camp predicted to surge starting Monday and peak on Friday for the Holy Ghost Night.
The General Overseer of RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, during the July 5, 2024, Holy Ghost Service themed ‘Refuel Your Fire’, promised that this year’s convention would be “a convention like you have never seen it before.”
He emphasized the theme by stating, “Whenever they ask you what is the vision of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, we have always said number one, we want to make it to heaven and number two we want to take as many people as possible with us.”
Adeboye encouraged the congregation to invite their friends, relatives, and co-workers to the convention, highlighting that it would be “very wonderful,” with discussions on topics such as “as pure as light.”
RCCG, which boasts a global membership exceeding nine million, with about five million members in Nigeria, has seen increasing participation at its annual conventions since unveiling a 12-million-capacity auditorium in The Redemption City in 2018.
Convention attendees are typically provided with free meals at designated points within the camp.
The church, through its social media, has reiterated that the “RCCG 72nd Annual Convention is free, not sold out and open to everyone! Do you want to experience Heaven on Earth? Join us from August 5 to 11, 2024 at The Redemption City, Mowe Ogun state.”
