Paris Saint-Germain, head coach, Luis Enrique, has strongly criticized Napoli over failed transfer deal involving Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian forward was closely linked with a move to PSG earlier in the transfer window, but the deal ultimately fell through.
Reports indicate that PSG made a significant offer close to $80 million for Osimhen.
However, Napoli was holding out for $100 million, leading to a breakdown in negotiations.
This discrepancy in valuation caused PSG to abandon their pursuit of the Super Eagles star.
During a recent press conference, Enrique conveyed his dissatisfaction with the transfer market’s conditions, though he did not specifically name Osimhen.
He remarked, “We wanted to hire some players, but their price was too high. It didn’t make sense. There wasn’t a real opportunity. If the market window had allowed us to take a player with 50 goals per season, we would have done it, but the reality was different.”
It is widely believed that Osimhen was a top target for PSG, especially after Kylian Mbappe’s departure to Real Madrid.
Enrique’s comments reflect the challenges PSG faced in securing a top striker during the transfer window.
Following the collapse of the transfer, Osimhen has been sidelined by Napoli for the season.
The forward will remain with the Serie A club until the next transfer window, but he will not feature in any matches, as new coach Antonio Conte does not include him in his plans for this season.
