The Police Service Commission has named Moshood Jimoh as the new Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command.
Jimoh, who previously served as the Force Public Relations Officer from 2017 to 2019, has held several key positions within the Nigeria Police Force.
His past roles include Deputy Commissioner of the Airport Police, Deputy Commissioner of Finance and Administration, and Deputy Commissioner of General Investigation. Before his latest appointment, he was the Commissioner of Police for the Ports Authority, Eastern Ports.
Announcing the appointment in a statement on Monday, PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani said, “The Police Service Commission, on Monday, February 17, 2025, approved the appointment of Moshood Jimoh as the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State Command.”
He highlighted Jimoh’s extensive experience and professional training, which includes a Combat Operations Course at the Mobile Training College in Maiduguri, participation in the African Union Mission in Darfur, Sudan, and specialized training in counterterrorism and law enforcement at institutions in China, South Korea, and the United States.
“CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh has undergone several professional training programmes, including Weapons of Mass Destruction Countermeasure First Responder Training at the United States Institute, Social Construction and Management Reform at the China Executive Leadership Academy, Pudong, and Anti-Hijacking Techniques and Tactics at Yunnan Police College in Kunming, China,” Ani added.
Jimoh, a native of Kwara State, has also been recognized for his contributions to public relations, receiving the Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
The newly appointed commissioner officially appeared before the PSC on Monday to finalize his appointment.
