“Our economy has struggled due to longstanding misalignments,” Tinubu stated. “A year ago, we reached a point where temporary fixes were no longer viable.
“The decision to remove fuel subsidies and abolish multiple foreign exchange systems was essential to prevent further economic decline.”
The president highlighted the elimination of opportunities for smugglers and rent-seekers, noting that these measures were aimed at reversing decades of economic mismanagement.
