The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended four individuals in connection with the recent murder of a barber in Isale Oja Kuto, Abeokuta, allegedly carried out by suspected cultists last Wednesday.
According to The PUNCH, this arrest comes in the wake of another violent incident linked to cult rivalry that occurred on Friday night.
In that attack, a 48-year-old Point of Sale operator, identified as Fatai Kehinde, was brutally murdered beneath the Kuto bridge in Abeokuta.
Kehinde, who was widely known in the community as ‘Faity’ was the son of the Baale, traditional leader, of Kuto Community.
He was reportedly chased by his attackers from his shop in the Kuto market to the area under the bridge, where they viciously butchered him.
His burial took place on Saturday, the day after his tragic death.
In a phone interview with on Sunday, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the arrests related to the barber’s murder.
He stated, “We have successfully arrested four people in connection with the killing of the barber by some suspected cultists a few days ago. We are also on the trail of others, and this is just to say that there is no hiding place for criminals in the state. We will apprehend everyone involved in the killings and make them answer for their misdeeds.”
The Commissioner further emphasized the police’s commitment to bringing all those involved in these criminal activities to justice, assuring the public that no effort would be spared in ensuring the safety of residents in the state.
