The Nigeria Labour Congress, President, Joe Ajaero, and Secretary General, Emmanuel Ugboaja, are scheduled to appear before the Nigeria Police Force on September 30, 2024, to respond to petitions lodged against them.
According to The PUNCH, their legal representative, Femi Falana, SAN, the petitions stem from accusations of “public disruption” made by the airline, Airpeace.
However, Falana clarified that the allegations do not involve any claims of terrorism financing, as some media outlets previously reported.
In a statement, Falana explained, “Airpeace itself noted that it has withdrawn the petition. So, why does the police still want to quiz them on September 30?”
Although Airpeace confirmed that it had resolved its grievances with the NLC leadership, the police are still proceeding with the investigation.
Ajaero and Ugboaja, through their lawyer, had requested an extension of the initial police summons, which has now been granted, allowing them more time to prepare for the questioning.
Falana further emphasized, “Yes, they have agreed to the September 30 extension.”
