The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two individuals, Emmanuel Kostad and Ayomide Damilare, for allegedly stealing items worth ₦800,000 in Sagamu.
The PUNCH reported that the suspects were detained on January 24, 2025, after a man named Kolawole Oke reported the theft of several items from his site, which included a block-moulding machine, two metal tables, a rammer, and nine pressers, totaling ₦800,000.
The State Police Command Spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrests on Sunday, noting that the first suspect admitted to purchasing the stolen goods from the second suspect.
“At about 1:00 pm, one Kolawole Oke, male, came to the station and reported that his block-moulding machine, two metal tables, a rammer, and nine pressers valued at eight hundred thousand naira only were stolen from his site,” Odutola stated.
“Upon discreet investigation, the moulding machine, two metal tables, and one rammer were recovered from one Emmanuel Kostad, male, who confessed that he bought the items from one Ayomide Damilare, a 21-year-old male,” she added.
She also mentioned that the case would be taken to court on Monday after further investigation.
In a separate incident, a suspect was apprehended by residents of the Iyana-Iyasi community in Ota, Ogun State, after attempting to rob a woman.
The suspect, identified as Tunde Adebanjo, was caught in the act and handed over to the police, along with a locally made pistol and a Tecno phone.
“At about 6:30 am, one Tunde Adebanjo was apprehended by members of the community while he was robbing one Mrs Babalola Rachel,” Odutola explained.
“Upon arrest, the suspect was found with a locally made cut-to-size pistol and a Tecno phone. Investigations confirmed that the recovered Tecno phone belonged to the victim,” she added.
Odutola further revealed that the suspect admitted to being a robber during questioning.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further processing.
