Nigerian activist and social media influencer, Reno Omokri, has slammed President Tinubu’s celebratory mood after Jum’ah prayers, following the Plateau State massacre on Christmas Eve.
Omokri expressed his concern on X, formerly Twitter handle on Friday, strongly criticizing Tinubu’s outing after he attended Jum’mah prayer in Lagos on Friday.
He described Tinubu’s mood as Iack of empathy for at least 140 victims of gunmen attack of Christian-dominated Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi areas of Plateau State which also left several others with serious injuries on Christmas Eve in north-central, Plateau state,
He explained that Tinubu’s appearance today should have been of simplicity, expressing a melancholic mood of President that cares for the victims of gunmen attack.
He added the President should have used his first outing to declare minutes silence given the mood of the nation, adding that if you do well, we will commend you but if you act in a manner that is less than expected, we will condemn you.
Expressing displeasure with the Tinubu’s appearance, the Delta-born lawyer and pastor pointed out that he has been performing exceedingly well but this he said, does not sit with him.
Omokri wrote, “Perhaps President Tinubu could have been a bit less ostentatious in his celebratory mood today, after Jum’ah prayers, given the mood of the nation arising from the massacre of Nigerians in Plateau State. The optics do not look good.
“In fact, if I were him, I would have declared at least seven days of national mourning and used my first public appearance after the tragedy to give a minute silence for the victims and then QUIETLY go about my end-of-year activities.
“Today’s outing by President Tinubu could be misconstrued as ostentatious. It was definitely celebratory. They were not the actions expected of a man in charge of a nation where over a hundred citizens had just been slaughtered. The President could have been more sensitive and should have displayed empathy.
“If you do well, we will commend you. But if you act in a manner that is less than expected, we will condemn you.
“You have been doing well, Mr. President. But this does not sit well with me.”
