An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, has ordered the remand of a 55-year-old man, Moyosore Johnson, accused of posing as a doctor and causing the death of a woman.
Johnson, whose residential address was not disclosed, faces a four-count charge related to conspiracy and allegedly hastening a patient’s death.
Presiding over the case, Magistrate Kausarat Ayofe declined to take the defendant’s plea due to jurisdictional limitations.
Instead, she instructed the police to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice. The matter was adjourned until March 27 for further mention.
Prosecutor Insp. Segun Adegboye informed the court that the alleged offences took place on July 5, 2024, around 10:00 a.m. at Apata Igbala Hospital in Iseyin, Oyo State.
According to Adegboye, Johnson performed surgery on a 26-year-old woman, Badirat Adebayo, which led to her death. He specifically alleged that the defendant removed Adebayo’s womb, a procedure that proved fatal.
The prosecution cited Sections 516 and 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000, as the legal basis for the charges against Johnson.
