The Osun State Government has declared its plans to embark on plans of mass recruitment to fill out the existing vacancies in the teaching profession in the State.
This was made known by the Sate’s Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole while speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Friday.
The state government also called on the 1,509 teachers recruited by the Adegboyega Oyetola administration but were suspended by Governor Ademola Adeleke to reapply.
Eluwole promised the people of the State of recruiting qualified teachers into the teaching profession at all levels of education in the State, stressing that the process of recruitment would not be taken with levity.
He submitted that only qualified applicants would be recruited.
The Commissioner equally expressed worries over the drastic change in the education standard of Osun, explaining that the Adeleke’s administration was working towards repositioning it.
“There is a drastic change in the education system in Osun, we are working towards positioning it, may God help us.
“We are going to organise the State 2023 Educational Summit so as to discuss and address the factors affecting the state of education in Osun. Everything that will be discussed at the summit will be looked into critically.
“I want to tell you that those that were employed by the last administration and eased out when this administration took over are going to apply afresh like others and I want to assure you that only those that are qualified as teachers by discipline are the ones that are going to be considered because when we say we are re-training the teachers, it is easier for the government to train those that have been in that line. Only the experts are going to be taken for teaching in Osun.
“I want to assure you that those that are going to be employed are going to be employed both at the primary and secondary levels. They are going to be qualified teachers, we are going to take it seriously.”
