The Osun State Government has denied awarding a contract for the reconstruction of the road leading to the Adele University, Ede.
This was in response to claims that the Senator Ademola Adeleke led administration withdrew the sum of Five Billion Naira from the state accounts for the reconstruction of the said road project.
Reacting to the allegations, spokesperson of the governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, in two separate statements today, described both allegations as “complete falsehoods, products of malicious misinformation and lies from demented minds.”
Olawale wrote: “The attention of the Osun State government has been drawn to a report of award of contract by Governor Ademola Adeleke for the reconstruction of the road leading to the Adeleke University.
“The story is a complete falsehood and product of malicious misonformation. The new government is still settling down and has not awarded any contract.
“The reconstruction of the said road is a project of the Federal Government to service the Federal Polytechnic, Ede. It has been ongoing since the time of the Oyetola administration.
“We urge the public to disregard the report as it is a failed attempt to undermine the integrity of the state governor and that of the administration.
“We repeat, for the sake of emphasis, that Governor Adeleke has not awarded any contract since assumption of office on November 27th.”
In another statement, the Osun State Government denied the report which it described as “a malicious rumour and unfounded allegation secretly being peddled on social media by men of yesterday” and described it as “a lie from demented minds.”
“How can such amount be withdrawn from state account on the day of inauguration when the new leader had no access to state accounts?,” he asked.
It would be recalled that Governor Adeleke had, during his inauguration, announced the freezing of all state and local government accounts.
