The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and his wife, Folashade Ashley Adegoke, have joyfully welcomed a new addition to their family—a baby boy.
The revered monarch shared the heartwarming news on his social media platforms on Tuesday, expressing gratitude for the safe arrival of the newborn.
In his announcement, Ooni Ogunwusi highlighted the rich royal heritage of the child, stating that both mother and son are in good health.
He said, “Hearty congratulations to the entire house of Oduduwa and Olori Folashade, who today birthed a prince from the mother side of Ooni Adagba royal compound of Lafogido ruling house and father side of Ooni Agbedegbede royal compound of Giesi ruling house combined to the royal throne of Oduduwa.”
He further added, “Mother and child are doing well to the glory of God Almighty and in line with the spirits of our ancestors. #Otisese.”
This joyous event comes just six months after the Ooni celebrated the birth of twins with his third wife, Tobi Philips.
Folashade, who entered into matrimony with the Ooni on October 15, 2022, is recognized as the fourth wife of the monarch.
The Ooni’s other wives include Mariam Anako, Elizabeth Akinmuda, Temitope Adesegun, and Ronke Ademiluyi.
The Ooni’s journey through marriage has seen its challenges. His first marriage, to Adebukola Bombata in 2008, ended in divorce.
His second union with Zaynab Wuraola Otiti in 2016 also dissolved due to irreconcilable differences.
In October 2018, he married Silekunola Naomi, but the marriage ended three years later. Their relationship did, however, bless them with a son, Tadenikawo.
This latest addition to the Ooni’s family continues the lineage of one of Nigeria’s most prominent royal houses, marking another chapter in the life of the esteemed traditional ruler.
