A 25-year-old motorcyclist, Muhammad Dahuru, has lost his life in a road accident that occurred along Olomore Housing Road in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The crash, which took place around 8:00 pm on Sunday, involved a Toyota Camry with the registration number Lagos SMK 303 BX, driven by 45-year-old Ayodeji Oyedele.
Also involved in the accident were two motorcycles, ridden by Ajayi Yusuf, 29, and Muhammad Dahuru, 25, as well as a tricycle operated by David Samuel, 36.
Confirming the incident on Monday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, told journalists that Dahuru succumbed to his injuries, while three other individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries.
According to Odutola, the injured victims received medical attention at Daverose Hospital, Olomore, Abeokuta, and were later discharged.
Meanwhile, Dahuru’s remains were handed over to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic customs after being confirmed dead by a medical professional.
She stated, “The Ogun State Police Command received a tragic incident involving multiple car crashes leading to the death of one person.
”The accident involved a Toyota Camry (Reg. No. Lagos SMK 303 BX), driven by Ayodeji Oyedele (M), 45 years, along with two motorcycles and a tricycle.
“Unfortunately, one motorcycle rider, Muhammad Dahuru (M), 25 years, lost his life, while three others sustained injuries.
“The injured victims are- David Samuel (M), 36 years – tricycle rider, Ajayi Yusuf (M), 29 years – motorcycle rider, and Balogun Lekan (M), 50 years – pillion passenger.”
Odutola further disclosed that reckless and dangerous driving by the Toyota Camry driver was the primary cause of the accident.
Ghe suspect, Oyedele, has since been taken into custody, while the Motor Traffic Division of the Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the incident.
Assuring the public that justice would be served, the police command urged motorists to prioritize road safety and comply with traffic regulations to prevent further tragedies.
