A devastating explosion in Tel Aviv on Sunday night claimed the life of a 50-year-old man and left a passerby injured.
According to the AFP, the incident has sparked a thorough investigation by the Shin Bet, with police considering all possible motives, including terrorism.
According to Tel Aviv District Commander, Superintendent Peretz Amar, “Identifying the man is crucial to determining whether the explosion was criminal or terrorist in nature. It could be terrorism or a criminal act.”
The explosion, which damaged a nearby truck, is believed to have been carried out by the victim himself, who was carrying the device.
Superintendent Amar noted, “We received dozens of emergency calls, with citizens and officers reporting a mangled body and scattered body parts in the street.”
The injured passerby was riding a scooter through the area when the incident occurred.
The police are taking the possibility of terrorism seriously, with Superintendent Amar stating, “We are giving serious consideration to the possibility it was an act of terrorism.”
