The Ondo State Government has declared Friday, November 15, 2024, a work-free day for all public servants in the state.
This decision, announced by the Office of the Head of Service, is intended to allow civil servants to travel to their home communities to participate in the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, November 16, by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
According to the statement signed by O. F. Ayodele, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of Service, all accounting officers within the state’s ministries, departments, and agencies have been directed to inform their staff of the work-free day and ensure compliance.
The government’s announcement reflects an effort to support civic engagement and ensure that all eligible voters can participate in the upcoming election.
“This work-free day is essential to enable public servants to fulfil their civic duties by travelling to their communities to vote,” the statement noted.
