The Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Chief Solomon Olugbemiga Ayoade, has refuted claims that the revered monarch, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away.
Speaking to journalists on Monday evening, Ayoade assured the public that the Olubadan is in good health and remains in Ibadan.
His statement comes in response to widespread speculation earlier in the day suggesting that the traditional ruler had passed on.
“By the time I left the palace around 8 pm, everything was in order. There was no crisis, and when I later made inquiries, I was informed that Baba is hale and healthy,” Ayoade said.
Addressing rumors that the Olubadan had been flown out of the city for medical care, he dismissed the claims as baseless.
“The Olubadan just finished eating amala. He is hale and hearty. It is all just a rumour,” he stated.
Reiterating that the monarch remains in Ibadan, Ayoade urged the public to disregard the misinformation. “Baba was not flown anywhere. He is doing very fine,” he affirmed.
