Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, has apprehended a 46-year-old butcher and farmer, Ibrahim Ogunrinde, for allegedly stabbing motorcyclist Kosu Daniel.
The arrest was disclosed in a statement by the Corps spokesman, Moruf Yusuf, on Friday.
The statement revealed that Ogunrinde, residing in Adu Town, Ajebo Road, Mile 6, Abeokuta, was detained at Ijaye garage on Thursday around 2:30 pm for stabbing the victim.
Following the attack, Ogunrinde reportedly fled the scene with Daniel’s motorbike.
Yusuf said, “Ibrahim Ogunrinde, a butcher and farmer, had posed as a passenger and requested the victim, Kosu Daniel (aka Jeje), to transport him to Olubo town on Wednesday, July 5, 2024, at noon.
“He then allegedly stabbed Kosu Daniel in the neck and arm, leaving him in a pool of blood, and escaped with the victim’s motorbike.”
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to intending to kill Daniel, believing he had an affair with his wife two months prior.
“The suspect confessed that he was motivated by a desire to eliminate the victim, who he believed had an affair with his wife two months prior.
“He believed he had succeeded in killing the victim, not knowing that Kosu Daniel was rushed to the hospital and is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta,” the statement further explained.
The suspect and the recovered motorbike have since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Magbon, for further investigation and potential prosecution.
